Power Rangers (2017): I was previously unfamiliar with the Power Rangers but not long into the movie I was on familiar territory.
Shaggy D.A., The (1976): Another likeable Dean Jones type of comedy from Disney.
Game Change (2012): Julianne is fine but the main interest for me was in the recreation of what goes on behind the scenes of an expensive political campaign.
Boogeyman (2005): Although it is small it makes the most of its resources and stands up well to the burgeoning number of middle of the road films in the genre.
2012 (2009): Most of the special effects were okay but the screenplay gets a bit silly. The finale takes up half the film.; DVD ~~$10~~ $7.50
Jasper Jones (2016): It is worth a watch – although nothing special. The highlights are a cameo from Hugo Weaving and the soundtrack.; DVD $29.95 | Blu-Ray $34.95
Alien Trespass (2009): Without much margin for error the screenplay succeeds. It is aided by some spot on periodic set designs and wardrobe. The aliens are enjoyable.
I Am Sam (2002): You have to question the ethics of a screenplay that tries to make money (and a few laughs) out of a mentally handicapped character. However if the real intention was to raise awareness of the mentally handicapped then make a documentary please.
Step Brothers (2008): The script is juvenile but the plot idea is fine. When you get tired of the immature characters Mary Steenburgen and Richard Jenkins are worth a look.
Meet the Spartans (2008): There were some reasonable spoof segments but like the rest of the film they got mired down by unnecessary grubbiness.
