It has a low key approach but it is hard–hitting in its indictment of the class war in the USA. The points made by the interviewees – academics and those working at the sharp end – make sense.
There are a lot of cooking documentaries but the cooks in this one refreshingly don't have the histrionics typical of other kitchens. The dishes produced should please aficionados but maybe not those of us who eat to avoid hunger.
It probably tries too hard to impress – the material is light and the film gets more and more commercial as it progresses – however, the choice of music is a winner.
