Barry LyndonBarry Lyndon (1975)Recommended
5 stars (Exceptional) I've never before seen a swashbuckler given such spacious treatment; even the music adds its own dimension of spaciousness instead of filling it in. I'd watch it all again just for the final duel scene.
DVD $29.95 $22.45
Poldark (TV Series)Poldark (TV Series) (1975)
4 stars (Very Good) Unexpectedly compelling. Plenty of interesting characters, good acting, atmosphere; plus a few highlights where the scriptwriters were obviously having fun. Season 1 finished with a good balance of closure and obvious openings for season 2.
Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, TheExtraordinary Journey of the Fakir, The (2018)
3 stars (Good Enough) Nicely entertaining. The humour isn't forced, and there's a fair balance of romance/fantasy against realism/philosophy. Expect a couple of pure Bollywood moments, and go along for the ride.
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, TheGirl with the Dragon Tattoo, The (2009)Aro Favourite
4 stars (Very Good) What Aroview said. I don\'t usually like thrillers, but this was damn good.
Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, TheBest Exotic Marigold Hotel, The (2011)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) Charming, well–acted.
Brighton RockBrighton Rock (2010)
4 stars (Very Good) Didn\'t expect such eye–catching use of lighting, camera angles etc. I give an extra rating star for that.rnrnNice twist at the end.
DVD $19.95, $34.95 | Blu-Ray $19.95
Prospero's BooksProspero's Books (1991)
3 stars (Good Enough) A bit disappointing. \"Graphic opulence\" is right, but the visual aspect is rather incoherent; more in the nature of a disconnected dream that intrigues but has no point; and the voiceover narrative isn\'t strong enough to give it any shape.
