Well written with snappy dialogue. Claudette is in every scene and maintains a uniformly good performance. The best scenes are those involving the Ale and Quail Club members – this segment would be worthy of development as a film in its own right.
Not an easy story line to watch but it portrays the dark side of alcoholism in the family effectively. Toni Collette has always been a fine actress & in this she is in top form.
The action comes in splurges & in between the film moves at walking pace – it limps along during the middle stages for what advantage I don't know. The point of the film is to shock but it could have effectively achieved this with a shorter limping time.
Demi doesn't really look the criminal type but she's mostly convincing. Not a lot to the plot but because of the competent performances its never boring. Most of the action is to be found in the in fighting among the quality supporting cast.
