The initial scenes are very strong for the performances of the two louts but above all for the miserable seedy locations. It is not as strong once the action moves to the subway but it is still worth the price of admission.
Has too many characters which might be the reason it drags on too long. Although the screenplay has an undertone of soppiness its hard not to watch scenes involving quality actors like Thompson, Linney and Rickman.
The frothy screenplay would have been much better if it had not dragged on for an extra half hour. A quality support cast of Firth, Broadbent, Thompson and Jones certainly helps.
It seems that anyone with home video footage qualifies as a subject of a documentary. Heavens knows what the future holds with the proliferation of cameras today. Casablancas hadn't really contributed anything of value to justify 82 minutes of footage.
