Obviously trying to set some kind of record in the body count stakes – not just in sheer numbers but the speed of the dispatch. Everything is done with gusto.
The click bits were okay for a while but there was no need to supplement them with humping dogs (the old fall back) and the like. Beckinsale and Walken are used to much better material. The ending which arrived several times was pretty ordinary.
Cruise is out of his depth – he's a star, not an actor. The screenplay is far too long – once it had made its point about Hoffman's character it didn't need to thrash it to death.
