Drop Zone (1994): A routine solid actioner that doesn't rise to any great heights.
Saw 2 (2005): Tobin Bell is the only saving grace.
Trapped (1949): It is a reasonable drama unless Lloyd Bridges gets under your skin.
Boy in the Plastic Bubble, The (1976): Has definite curiosity value.
Living Daylights, The (1987): Dalton does well in his debut but the highlight is the stunt work.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003): Obviously trying to set some kind of record in the body count stakes – not just in sheer numbers but the speed of the dispatch. Everything is done with gusto.
Click (2006): The click bits were okay for a while but there was no need to supplement them with humping dogs (the old fall back) and the like. Beckinsale and Walken are used to much better material. The ending which arrived several times was pretty ordinary.
Rain Man (1988): Cruise is out of his depth – he's a star, not an actor. The screenplay is far too long – once it had made its point about Hoffman's character it didn't need to thrash it to death.
BFG, The (2016): The special effects are done very well and BFG is an entertaining character.
Damned Don't Cry, The (1950): The screenplay is okay but this is all about Joan Crawford's performance. Go Girl!
