USA 2006, 103 minutes
Dir. Frank Coraci
Rating: [M]
Genres: Comedy

Aroview: Clever high-concept farce has Adam Sandler continue his recent low-key run playing a 'married & harried' architect who inadvertantly receives a cosmic solution to his problems from a mad-scientist (Walken), in the form of a special "Universal Remote" which allows him to pause, rewind and generally modify reality to his heart's content.

Although stumbling predictably through Sandler's buffoonish tropes (pausing time to commit pranks and fast-fowarding through boring dinners), this eventually builds to a satisfying postmodern spin on IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE and A CHRISTMAS CAROL, as the hero confronts lost moments of his childhood and gains a disturbing look into an overweight future persona. Although those unimpressed by Sandler's sappier side should avoid, the unsavoury gags will please hardcore fans.
