Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (TV Series) (1984-1987)
The Hammer character is a product of his time and a worthy curiosity piece to look back on. A great theme tune and the street location shooting helps.
Barefoot Contessa, The (1954)
A long talkie including quite a bit of romantic drivel. It doesn't help that the characters aren't that interesting.
Kung Pow - Enter the Fist (2001)
It sets out to be silly and does the right thing by going the whole hog.
16 Blocks (2006)
It doesn't amount to much although the ingredients are there in the Director and the locale.
Dragon Tiger Gate (2006)
It has a photogenic cast.
Fire at Sea (Fuocoammare) (2016)
First impressions are that it needs re–editing. It was hard to maintain any attention viewing it.
What We Do in the Shadows (2014)
It is hard to dislike. It compares very well against those productions with bigger budgets in the crowded vampire comedy genre.
Redline (2009)
Some great anime with garish (not sure if that is the right word but its the first one that springs to mind) characters.
Seconds (1966)
The screenplay has a strong first half hour and ending. Rock Hudson doesn't do too badly but he's outperformed by John Randolph and an excellent supporting cast. The top black and white photography is the icing on the cake.
Rocky IV (Rocky 4) (1985)
The screenplay is laughingly predictable – it follows the same plotline as "The Karate Kid" (1984). Lazy filmmaking. Stallone writes, directs and stars – be warned.
