Saturn 3 (1980): It is not great but it is also hard to dislike. It has some of the credentials that will enable it to survive the years and build a cult following.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017): The interest level drops when the stage is commanded by the humans whereas when the special effects are center stage – wonders to behold.
20th Century Women (2017): The performances were fine (that was to be expected from this cast) but there was little else to it.; DVD ~~$20~~ $15
Crazy in Alabama (1999): The screenplay is a bit muddled. As a black comedy it tries hard (possibly too hard) but it doesn't succeed.
Kate Plays Christine (2016): It drags and it needed to be shorter to have its desired impact.
Shop Around the Corner, The (1940): The best bits involve the veteran and great character actor Frank Morgan.
Keeping Room, The (2014): It doesn't fulfill its promise – it does some hard work through its set designs, lighting, and wardrobe etc. but at the end of the day, the impression it leaves you with is that it is just another film about gun violence.
Citizen Jane: Battle for the City (2016): An annoying and unnecessary music soundtrack made it hard to make out the commentary but it is an important and still relevant story so will search out her book.
Beatriz at Dinner (2017): Go Salma! – get stuck into the right wing blood sporting bastards.
Wind River (2017): The shooting locations were great but the big shootout scene turned into a comedy and didn't help the serious message of the film. The compulsory casting of Graham Greene added character and talent.
