In The Loop (2009): Compares well with "Dr. Strangelove" which is the highest compliment I can pay.
Picnic at Hanging Rock (TV Mini-series) (2018): Great to look at but it does not create the right atmosphere necessary for suspense.
Leviathan (2014): Aleksey Serebryakov's alcohol–soaked performance is terrific. The screenplay is played out in Russian time but is helped by the superb location shooting.
My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006): Uma tries hard with her thin material.
I Kill Giants (2017): The two young leads are very good and although the screenplay has some very good moments overall it is too uneven.
Congress, The (2013): Its every aspect is original and will warrant repeated viewing. Some of the animation is stunning.; DVD $19.95
Francofonia (2015): It cleverly mixes re–enactments with archival film some of which I had not seen before. The artwork and the shots of the Louvre itself are worth the price of admission.
American Assassin (2017): There is plenty of violence, fighting, and killing so there is not much time for anything else.
Drop Dead Fred (1991): Silly but entertaining. Approach carefully if you are unfamiliar with Mr. Mayall.
Core, The (2002): For escapists.
