Leon The Professional, The (Professional, The) (1994)
Because Gary Oldman is so good there are two films – one with him in it and one without him. After a good start, the screenplay weakens out and even goes off the rails. Oldman is perfect but he is not in it enough to save it.
Out of Africa (1985)
There is some beautiful location shooting but it is not enough to get you through 2.5 hours.
Replacement Killers, The (1998)
No surprises in the screenplay but it is refreshing to have a male action lead that is not a muscle head.
8mm (1998)
There is a very good support cast so it is watchable if you can bear with the trademark Cage hysterics.
McKenzie Break, The (Escape) (1970)
There is a curiosity value to the screenplay. Brian Keith stood out like a sore thumb and his was a curious casting.
Science of Sleep, The (2006)
The screenplay, especially the fantasy sequences, is very good but the romantic subplot gradually takes over the film and slows it down.
Holy Smoke (1999)
The screenplay doesn't quite work but the proceedings could never be boring with the two leads.
Cadillac Man (1990)
There is a lot of yelling and shouting and not much else.
LBJ (2016)
Another political bio from a period in the USA that has been thrashed to death. It is well produced however and the makeup people do a great job cloning the actors (particularly the noses). Jennifer Jason Leigh's appearance is spot on.
Rogue Assassin (War) (2007)
Two good action stars more than helps.
