Barbarella (1968): The set designs are terrific and the whole production is out of this world.
House by the River (1950): Competently made and very atmospheric.
Pump Up the Volume (1990): Slater is very good and there is a freshness to the material.
Upstairs, Downstairs (TV Series) (2010): Excellent production values and performances with Eileen Atkins the standout.
Troll (1985): Not the most sophisticated of creatures but they are entertaining as was the young daughter.
Birdman of Alcatraz (1961): A strong and always interesting screenplay is complemented by a spot on casting.
Dead Poet's Society (1989): 35 years on it hasn't dated too well. Also, the ending is melodramatic and silly.
Sayonara (1957): It is heavy on the romantics but there are better segments that include Japanese culture.
Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing and Charm School (2005): A strange screenplay, one that looks to have been stitched together, but the dancing sequences are good. Marisa Tomei is very good as to be expected.
Hercules in New York (Hercules Goes Bananas) (1970): 1 star for its technical competence, two for its entertainment value.
