Lighthouse, The (2019)
No colours, lack of lighting, the sound effects, & the setting were well done. The screenplay using 2 characters was questionable – 1 person could have gone mad on his own equally as well if not better. The resulting cost saving could have been passed on.
Full Moon in Paris (1984)
Another Rohmer film where the characters are not doing anything useful.
Room with a View, A (1985)
Quality cast, photography, and production values. For performance watchers, it is a good chance to compare acting talent when you have quality in depth on show. For me, Denholm Elliott, the perennial supporting character actor, stands up well in this.
Midway (2019)
These kind of big screen dramatisations usually have and benefit from special effects. The effects in this one are not impressive – the ships look like cardboard cutouts – and as the story was already well known it became a bit of a bore.
Flight of the Conchords - Season 2 (TV Series) (2008)
The episodes have a good format and balance between music and comedy. The characters are well created and there is a very good working relationship between the main performers.- DVD
$25 $18.75
Big C, The (TV Series) (2010)
S2: Although the screenplay is uneven the excellent Laura Linney sees it through.
Howling, The (1981)
It takes an hour to warm up but even after 40 years it still has a bit to it.
New Adventures of Old Christine, The (TV Series) (2006)
S1: The material isn't strong but the characters are pleasant enough without being soppy.
Shopgirl (2005)
Claire Danes is the only thing worthwhile in this – the screenplay is very ordinary and Martin is miscast in the romantic role he created.
Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999)
There is some talent here and there amongst the cast but even the usually excellent Helen Mirren can't do much to save this screenplay.
