A.I. Artificial Intelligence
Aroview: Speculative sci-fi at its most fascinating and opaque, this project developed by Stanley Kubrick is comparable to 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY in thought, scope and epic duration.
Encompassing the near and remote future, it shows the quest of an android child (Haley Joel Osment) invested with the capacity to love, to “become a real boy”, negotiating a world of ‘mechas’, ‘orgs’, ‘flesh-fairs’ and whole cities devoted to robot sex, a world in which humankind itself is mightily confused.
Due to a few languid sections, this found more critical than audience appreciation, but its fairytale mood and advanced ideas do benefit from being savoured as opposed to gulped down at action-pace. From a short-story by Brian Aldiss.

5 stars (Exceptional) Awesome. ~dr.strangelove
4 stars (Very Good) A very strange tale, with elements from so many genres that it's really hard to anticipate what kinds of audiences will love or hate it. But an incredible sci-fi world is portrayed, and the fairytale story is both engaging and moving. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) The snot detracts from the film which in itself is uneven. On the positive side is a good story line. The street scenes seem to be influenced by "Blade Runner".One of Spielberg's better efforts. ~Tubbs
