Feat. Campbell Scott, Ben Gazzara, Steve Martin

Aroview: Brain-teasing thriller of the highest order from renowned playwright/auteur David Mamet (HOUSE OF GAMES, OLEANNA), vaunts a Chinese Box narrative of con-games in which scientist Campbell Scott falls victim to his own naivety.

Fearing his boss Ben Gazzara may be edging him out of a billion-dollar deal he succumbs to the charms of a shady Steve Martin (playing against type) and is soon neck-deep in a mire of incriminating killings and disbelieving cops.

4 stars (Very Good) Intricate, claustrophobic. Very well done on what must have been a fairly small budget. All the performances strike exactly the right notes, especially Scott, Pidgeon and Martin. Just when you think you're on solid ground... ~HiFi

4 stars (Very Good) Top class screenplay from David Mamet, ably assisted by his cast. Roller-coaster plot which is definitely not for the inattentive. Wheels within wheels. Somewhat contrived ending; otherwise a real gem. ~Anon
