Synopsis: Steven Soderbergh directs this hard-bodied drama of an upstart male stripper mentored by a veteran of the business, apparently based on Channing Tatum's experience as a stripper before breaking into Hollywod.
“A smoothly distilled collaboration that balances Tatum's heat and charm... with Soderbergh's cool, cinematic intelligence and ongoing preoccupations.”~New York Times

3 stars (Good Enough) Not nearly as controversial as suggested by the media, not nearly as deep in content as suggested by the director, Magic Mike is hard to recommend for most, but it's not all that bad either. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) Immediately engaging, but sags badly in the middle and leaves the characters looking rather lifeless. However, Tatum's fantastic dancing and the pretty cinematography are pleasant distractions... ~HiFi
2 stars (Good Try) A good try but it is too long for the material on offer and its novelty soon wears thin. ~Tubbs
