Flight of the Conchords - Season 1 (TV Series)
Aroview: Local heroes Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie's unique two-man 'digi-folk' routine finds its way onto American screens in this applauded and unexpectedly popular HBO musical sitcom.
Crash landing in New York with quiet ambition to make it big, the down-to-earth duo are regularly thwarted by their half-witted manager (Rhys Darby), courted by a single obsessed fan, and blindsided by a series of eventful culture clashes (e.g. ‘racial’ discrimination against NZders), all while remaining stoically Kiwi throughout. In reality, the pair’s cult continues to rise as genuine oddities on the Stateside comedy scene, distinguished in their deadpan mumble schtick and hilariously lyricised musical numbers.
Season One: 12 episodes across two discs.

4 stars (Very Good) A very Kiwi comedy set in NY, the Flight of the Conchords are unique and hilarious (especially in their first season) and surely deserve the fame they have achieved. ~Tom H
