Aroview: Obsessive-compulsive Jack Nicholson has his fear and loathing neutered by the straight-shooting solo-Mum waitress, Helen Hunt, in an affable, sitcom-ish spin on 'A Christmas Carol'.
The pair are not exactly a match made in heaven but indeed that's the whole point, and it works. Both picked up an Oscar for the trouble, though they're altogether out-disciplined by a frisky wire-haired pooch!

4 stars (Very Good) Melvin is not your typical romance novelist, he's a self-absorbed cynic, suffers from OCD, with a gift for offending people. But when he reaches out in an act of unexpected kindness, he tentatively starts to return to the human race. It's a hoot. ~GenXGirl
