Emma (2019)
It is refreshing to see a drama where the female characters hold sway. Having said that it was interesting how little Bill Nighy had to do but you could not ignore his presence. An entertaining version with the wardrobe & hair departments well employed.
Ladies in Black (2018)
Excellent production values and the screenplay is able to entertain throughout its running time.
Current War, The (2017)
The dramatisation was presented in such a flashy way that it could only pass as entertainment rather than educational. It is a pity because Tesla was a genius and Westinghouse and Edison both made important contributions to technology.
Donbass (2018)
By presenting the drama in episodes the filmmaker had more flexibility and was able to use a wide range of emotions ranging from comical to distasteful.
And When Did You Last See Your Father? (2007)
A screenplay that will be remembered for its excellent casting and the performance of Jim Broadbent (yet again). A special mention though for Juliet Stevenson – she was the right choice to play the overshadowed wife and in this, she was spot on.
Curse of the Gothic Symphony, The (2011)
Fairly interesting and not too long (I'm referring to the documentary).
I Used to Go Here (2020)
There was quite a bit of talking but I couldn't detect much else happening.
Hart's War (2001)
A plot with a difference but the screenplay needs a bit of patience.
Motherless Brooklyn (2019)
The title is not too bad and there is plenty of time to reflect upon it.
Seven Swords (2005)
A mix of soft music and soft eyes with dramatic well choreographed action. However, the photography proves to be the film's main strength.
