Missionary, The (1982): The plot is not the strongest but the production values and the cast are excellent.
Love Story (A Lady Surrenders) (1944): Straight romance with little else.
Carve Her Name With Pride (1958): Take note all film heroines this is how it should be portrayed. Understated performance from Virginia based on the true story of Violette Szabo.
360 (2011): Everyone had a suit on = boring characters.; DVD $29.95
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan (2010): Moves from generation to generation and back again and within generations. Made for a western audience.Orchestral background – sappy.
Variety Lights (1950): The eccentric characterisations are apparent at the start of his directorial career.
Fightville (2011): Sad to see kids taking an interest in this.
Seems Like Old Times (1980): A younger Goldie is not as irritating as usual but just as noisy. Passable comedy moments.
Silent Night Deadly Night (1984-1987): Both films go out of their way to be nasty. If you can treat them as a comedy.
To Paris with Love (1955): Not really a vehicle for Guinness. Some good location shots.
