Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)
The title does offer some hope.
Jubal (1956)
The screenplay is more solid than interesting but the casting always holds the attention.
On the Waterfront (1954)
Some scenes still pack a punch nearly 70 years on. A solid story but an even more solid cast.
Wrath of Man (2021)
Ritchie's films are at their best when the characters do the talking, not the guns. Compare the quality of the character actors employed in "Lock Stock" & in "Snatch" with the casting in this & you can see why the emphasis has shifted toward the gun.
Supernova (2020)
Although the story has been done before the casting and the photography will probably make it worthwhile.
2001 Maniacs (2005)
It doesn't take itself seriously and is harmless.
Paterson (2016)
It has a believable screenplay and characters, especially the marriage relationship. Other than the odd growl from Marvin and a scuffle with a toy gun it is also refreshingly free of violence.
Code Unknown (2000)
The breaking up and mixing of different but loosely related stories into short sharp scenes works well as it keeps your attention in not knowing what comes next.
22 Bullets (L' Immortel) (2010)
It is over reliant on violence to fill out the screenplay and some of it is distasteful.
Pinocchio (1940)
A good story with fun characters that are excellently animated. The musical numbers are also memorable. Timeless.
