Death Wish (1974): The killing in cold blood including shooting people in the back was handled quite well but the getting together of Bronson and his victims was contrived more than once. Some good 70s shooting locations though.
For Love of Ivy (1968): The screenplay is okay but 50 years on it has lost the impact it undoubtedly had.
Read My Lips (Sur Mes Levres) (2001): The screenplay is overlong for the material and has plot contrivances but things are helped along by two good lead performances plus there is Olivier Gourmet lurking in support.; Poster (VG) $12.95
Kite Runner, The (2007): The first half is much better than the second but it retains an edge to its political message. The stand in shooting locations are superb.
Mighty Quinn, The (1989): Because of its Caribbean shooting location, there was always going to be some attraction with its music as the icing on top. The screenplay isn't great but the casting includes the interesting bad guy M. Emmet Walsh & is worth more than a passing glance.
Straight Story, The (2000): Deliberately paced – it is a relaxing watch – told without complications and without the Director's customary sleight of hand.; Blu-Ray $29.95
Ratcatcher (1999): From the grazed knees of the kids to the mouse flying to the moon everything was so believable.
Mod Squad, The (1999): Nothing wrong with the casting but the screenplay never really took off.
Mirai (2018): The story was interesting enough and the animation was of a quality expected from Japan.; DVD $29.95 | Blu-Ray $34.95
Ferryman, The (2007): The acting is enthusiastic and provides most of the entertainment – however, there is a chance that the screenplay could appeal to some horror fans.
