Third Man, The (1949): The screenplay is stodgy in parts, particularly in the first half, but every now and then there is a knockout scene. The final scene is a wonderful unforgettable anti–climax. The zither player works overtime to produce a unique soundtrack.
Sightseers (2012): Enough of the comedy works to make it worthwhile.
Aviator, The (1985): The flying sequences were good but the screenplay was very predictable.
Apollo 11 (2019): It is good that somebody had thought to bring a camera along to record the event.
Origin of Evil, The (2022): The writing is pretty good and there are a few cat fights when things reach boiling point. Laure Calamy is excellent.; DVD $29.95
Liberal Arts (2012): Another writer/director romantic screenplay. As usual, nothing of note happens.
Baraka (1993): Outstanding.
Laurence Anyways (2012): I couldn't stay with the characters for the long running time but the film still continued to offer some excellent segments. The look of the film – design and art work plus the wardrobe/makeup ensured there was always something to arrest the eye.; DVD $29.95
Gods and Generals (2002): A bit of a battle.
Miles Davis Story, The (2001): Very informative through a good selection of interviewees and archival film.
