Made in America (1993): The material is showing its age 30 years on but Jennifer Tilly's bit parts won't age.
Alice in Wonderland (1999): An oft filmed tale but of the ones I've seen this is up there with the best. The special effects are very well done but the casting is superb with Miranda Richardson showing not for the first time how a Queen should be played.
South Pacific (1958): The soundtrack is 5 stars.
Housekeeper, The (Une Femme de Menage) (2002): Full of surprises and hard to predict what will happen next.
Howards End (1992): The production is immaculate and the casting could hardly have been bettered. The scene between Vanessa Redgrave and Emma Thompson is one to be treasured.
Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home (1986): It has a good balance between comedy and environmentalism.
Last Stop For Paul (2006): There are some good location shots but these are few and far between and you need a bit of patience to get through the padding in between.
Where the Wild Things Are (2009): The kid was awful and he should have been animated. Good work by the creature people though.
Queen Margot (La Reine Margot) (1994): Spending two hours with these characters was hard work. The screenplay soon became repetitive and it was difficult to sympathise with any squabble over religion.
Toys in the Attic (2009-2012): Stop–motion to the layman appears to have an extra layer of skill level.
