Birdman of Alcatraz (1961): A strong and always interesting screenplay is complemented by a spot on casting.
Dead Poet's Society (1989): 35 years on it hasn't dated too well. Also, the ending is melodramatic and silly.
Sayonara (1957): It is heavy on the romantics but there are better segments that include Japanese culture.
Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing and Charm School (2005): A strange screenplay, one that looks to have been stitched together, but the dancing sequences are good. Marisa Tomei is very good as to be expected.
Hercules in New York (Hercules Goes Bananas) (1970): 1 star for its technical competence, two for its entertainment value.
Ghost Bride (2013): It has some worthy horror segments.
A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004): The soundtrack was pretty good.
Midnight Cowboy (1969): The two lead performances, the street scenes, and the screenplay are excellent. The icing on the cake is one of the all time great soundtracks. It is selectively used and fits the screenplay like a glove.
Hitcher, The (1986): A good effort from a disturbed Rutger is the only highlight.
Everything Went Fine (2020): The screenplay went on too long and began to drag. Dispensing with some of the fringe characters would have helped.; DVD $29.95
