Grizzly Man (2005)
We could have done with less of Grizzly Man but the wildlife photography was pretty good.
Heaven's Gate (1980)
The screenplay does have its quieter moments but the photography and the action sequences are excellent. John Hurt is a standout in the early scenes but appears very little afterward.
Marty (1955)
Romance screenwriters – see how it is done – no need for bedroom scenes or even kissing plus a finish within 90.
Death at a Funeral (2010)
A terrific comedy plot idea but the comedy is forced and the production plays more like a sequel.
A Cure for Wellness (2016)
A bit elongated but there some decent set designs and suspenseful segments.
Everyday People (2004)
The characters are believable which certainly helps.
War Games (1983)
A well written screenplay with a touch of comedy and plenty of satire.
Hoosiers (1986)
Another splendid performance from Gene Hackman. The early screenplay depicts small town insularity very well. The opening scenes of Gene driving along rural roads trying to find the school are the best.
Prince and the Pauper, The (2000)
A decent enough adaptation of a timeless story.
Slipper and the Rose, The (1975)
Although not strong musically Michael Hordern and Edith Evans are in form and make it worth a watch.
