Lost Boys, The (1987)
The first half, with the bridge scene the highlight, is better than the second but the latter does showpiece the terrific work of the makeup department.
Mary Poppins (1964)
The musical numbers are excellent – the choreography / the set designs – and I enjoy them more with each viewing.
Spellbound (1945)
Whilst the screenplay is far from convincing you overlook its weaknesses in the cause of entertainment and root for Ingrid trying to hold things together plot holes and all.
Hair High (2004)
More talented mayhem from Bill Plympton aided by a bouncy soundtrack.
Born to Fight (Kerd ma lui) (2004)
For action fans full stop although the stunt work is hard to resist (watching that is).
Artist, The (2011)
A very good and refreshing idea that is delivered with excellent production values.
Far from Men (2014)
The screenplay is okay but it lags somewhat behind the shooting locations as the main attraction.
Rick (2003)
A bit hard to follow on a first viewing.
Conversations with Mother (Conversaciones con mamá) (2004)
This kind of screenplay is so easy to stuff up. This one doesn't become sugary but is delightfully written and performed.
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
The lead Christensen is not much chop but thankfully it is not an actors film and the special effects, the design work, and the creature people make it all worthwhile.
