Shoplifters (Manbiki kazoku) (2018): Sakura Andô and young Miyu Sasaki give eye catching performances in this screenplay about Family. I thought the closing scenes, after the arrest, were a bit anti–climatic but the final scene is a Killer.
Duel (1971): A simple suspense premise that should embarrass bigger budget projects.
Julia's Eyes (2010): Anchoring a horror plot line on someone with impaired vision is pretty lazy writing.
Mojo Working - The Making of Modern Music (1992): The only criticism is that it featured no blues harmonica players.
42nd Street (1933): 90 years on and the musical numbers stand the test of time. The camera work during the dancing is terrific, and the script and characters are entertaining.
Cup, The (1999): A crowd pleaser.
Jane Eyre (TV Mini-Series) (2006): A very efficient portrayal of this enduring classic of literature.
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997): The running time is the killer. Although the book might not be easy to bring to the screen the screenplay & performances need to be spot on to keep an audience for over two hours. However there are some good scenes & the photography throughout is quality.
Stormy Weather (1943): The classy Lena Horne anchors this parade of talented musicians with the climax being the outstanding dance routine of The Nicholas Brothers.
Saawariya (Beloved) (2007): The set designs were very good but with the exception of one female ensemble number, the musical side was disappointing.
