A necessary starting point for animation films is to get the characters right first & in this the Pixar team is again successful. Its official dinosaurs are now appealing. Although the story line follows a familiar pattern the animation is spot on.
Would rate higher if its trilogy predecessors had not been seen first. His style is familiar from the first two films & it loses some impact in this the finale. Having said that this is still a must see as he's better than most directors on Planet Film.
A timeless classic for all ages. Its that good it gets away with some soppiness but this doesn't last long because the whole thing is done and dusted in an hour.
Susan Sarandon is a standout in this more than useful cast – without her (or a Sigourney perhaps) I suspect the meddling character would have been just irritating.
Not a great deal happens in the screenplay and its a touch over long because of that – however Emmanuelle Devos makes it all worth it with a top notch performance.
