Oasis: SupersonicOasis: Supersonic (2016)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) Although the band members have a very limited knowledge of the English language the documentary overcomes this by using some archival film including concert footage.
Final DestinationFinal Destination (2000)Recommended
2 stars (Good Try) It has dated a bit 17 years on and not as good as the original viewing – mainly because the format of the screenplay is now familiar and the situations become predictable.
Showbands (TV Series)Showbands (TV Series) (2005)
3 stars (Good Enough) Its hard to dislike – although the screenplay is pretty predictable and familiar the delivery and selection of the musical numbers is spot on.
Transformers - Dark of the MoonTransformers - Dark of the Moon (Transformers 3) (2011)
3 stars (Good Enough) The special effects are impressive. I don't know why they bothered including the human characters as the machines get all the best lines.
Triple 9Triple 9 (2016)
2 stars (Good Try) An attractive cast but its messy story telling.
Somewhere in Time Somewhere in Time (1980)
2 stars (Good Try) Some nice photography. What a great way to save on production costs – you don't have to build a time machine just get your character to nod off.
Majestic, TheMajestic, The (2001)
2 stars (Good Try) The challenge is to swallow the screenplay & then to hang in for over two hours. What doesn't help is Carrey floundering in the lead even with some experienced actors in support. On the plus side the production values are good & there is some fine music.
Standing in the Shadows of MotownStanding in the Shadows of Motown (2002)
4 stars (Very Good)

2 stars (Good Try) It has a very good sci–fi premise and the set designs are very good but the pace of the screenplay was stodgy and a real turn off.
Virgin Suicides, TheVirgin Suicides, The (2000)Aro Favourite
2 stars (Good Try) I assume the director is trying to bring attention to teenage suicides – NZ had the highest rate in the developed world in 2016. I am unfamiliar with the novel but well done if she is. Kirsten Dunst is head & shoulders above the rest of the young cast.
