I Saw the LightI Saw the Light (2015)
2 stars (Good Try) Williams seems to have led a life not dissimilar to other prominent musicians – the biopic therefore has largely been done before for others.
MorganMorgan (2016)
2 stars (Good Try) The only thing that made an impression was yet another hysterical performance from Giamatti – thank goodness his was only a supporting character. The plot idea was fine but as portrayed it was hardly compelling viewing.
EraserEraser (1996)
2 stars (Good Try) A little better than the standard actioner with Arnie capable of drawing a couple of laughs which is not normal for a muscle head lead. James Caan is good as usual.rn
SurrogatesSurrogates (2009)
2 stars (Good Try) The only thing that I could discern from the plot was that everyone was trying to shoot everyone else except that everyone else was sometimes a dummy – which reminds me Bruce Willis stars.
Mechanic: ResurrectionMechanic: Resurrection (2016)
2 stars (Good Try) Jason Statham looks too intelligent for these action roles – he has some acting talent which is wasted on this. Usual good stunt work.
Balzac and the Little Chinese SeamstressBalzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress (2002)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough)
Poster (G) $7.95
City GirlCity Girl (1930)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) The first half is set in the city with its impressive number of extras. The second half is on the farm with wheat fields now in the supporting role. For any film from the 30's to stand the test of time as a compelling drama needs no further comment.
BrothersBrothers (2009)
2 stars (Good Try) It battles on well after the screenplay becomes predictable. A lightweight cast doesn't help.
Resident Evil: AfterlifeResident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
2 stars (Good Try) There in not a great deal of watchable sci–fi but the action is tried and tested.
CalcuttaCalcutta (1969)
4 stars (Very Good) 1st part films the streets – its easier to list what does not happen on the streets than what does – 2nd section is concerned with plump people golfing & attending horse racing but the climax is of the gut wrenching slums & also the out–casted lepers.rn
