Angel Baby (1995): Jacqueline McKenzie excels with a performance that is spread over several different moods – some easy some difficult. A very good screenplay that has some genuine drama and a soundtrack that is intelligently used.
Camille Rewinds (2012): It is a comedy it is romantic it is French.
Fun With Dick And Jane (1977): A mild comedy.
Pickpocket (1959): For those of you on Pickpocket 101, this is the advanced course.
Bye Bye Birdie (1963): An energetic screenplay that includes one excellent ensemble dance number.
Metro Manila (2013): The early series of scenes where the family arrives and tries and find its feet in Manila are terrific. Unfortunately, the screenplay follows formula after that and the closing scenes are not very strong.
Rose Maker, The (La fine fleur) (2020): Catherine Frot is dependable and usually worth a watch. The content here is light but it does have some interesting snippets of information about roses.; DVD $29.95
Helmut Newton: The Bad and the Beautiful (2020): He obviously could snap photos – it is a pity he didn't use his talent on something that may have benefited society such as recording poverty and working class living conditions.; DVD $29.95
Imaginaerum by Nightwish (2012): It is different it is a fantasy and is both visually and musically interesting.
Paper Planes (2014): A pleasant enough family outing – the paper planes add some much needed weight to the proceedings.
