Hangover, TheHangover, The (2009)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) Theatrical version **** a rarity – a funny American post–1940 comedy. Extended uncut version *** this is not as good as the theatrical version but stands up well against the sequels that followed.
Bride of FrankensteinBride of Frankenstein (1935)Aro Favourite
4 stars (Very Good) You can't imagine a time when this film will not be appreciated. It has more than its share of memorable moments packed into its short running length.
BuddyBuddy (1997)
2 stars (Good Try) Uneven but the real animal scenes are worthy of commendation for the trainers. The ending is a bit soppy.
SlackersSlackers (2001)
2 stars (Good Try) It has dated quite badly after only 16 years.
Sherlock - Series 1 (TV Series)Sherlock - Series 1 (TV Series) (2010)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) Each episode is of feature length. Cumberbatch and Freeman make a good fist of it. The set designs, wardrobe and supporting cast are BBC quality.
DVD $69.95
Assault on Precinct 13Assault on Precinct 13 (2005)
2 stars (Good Try) An unnecessary but watchable remake.
Doctor Foster (TV Series)Doctor Foster (TV Series) (2015-2017)Aro Favourite
2 stars (Good Try) Series 1: Gets a bit too melodramatic at times but Suranne Jones's accomplished performance makes it worth it.
Tall Man, TheTall Man, The (2012)
2 stars (Good Try) There are some good segments but the screenplay is uneven overall.
Ring, TheRing, The (2002)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) Not too bad – it has a good base to work on in the "Ring" (1998).
FrankensteinFrankenstein (1931)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) A classic with a special mention for the make–up artists.
