Breathe (2017)
The production values are good as are the performances. Its main strength, however, is avoiding getting over soppy.
Murder on the Orient Express (2017)
Good looking production values but the portrayal of the story is a bit flat. The main negative, however, are the attempts by the actors to speak English with a foreign dialect – it was hard to make out what Branagh was saying at times.
Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
The screenplay is a bit uneven but the good bits are very good (Irish). Abigail Breslin scene steals from a very good cast.
Paris, Texas (1984)
Unfortunately, after the opening scene, it can't get any better. The screenplay doesn't require all its running time and you are waiting for the next Ry Cooder segment in a desert or deserted street.
Call Me By Your Name (2017)
It is nice to look at but nothing of importance happens.
Chronesthesia (2016)
It fails to hold one's attention.
Assassin's Creed (2016)
There is a terrific cast but not much else is rememberable.
Robocop (1987)
The screenplay has an intelligent sci–fi base. There is plenty of bloodletting but it is not objectionable and a touch of humour is often added.
Mermaids (1990)
Cher, Ryder, Hoskins and Ricci is an attractive cast. The material is light and for the most part it doesn't matter because of the casting, but the final scenes are on the soapy side.
Johnny English Reborn (2011)
I am not sure whether Ian Fleming would approve – however unusually for a sequel, this is quite good.
