Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)
The screenplay if a little overlong is very good and is supported by great performances not only from the two leads but also from a very competent supporting cast.
Unsane (2018)
Predictably there is a lot of yelling and shouting and not too many surprises in the screenplay.
To the Devil...a Daughter (1976)
Widmark looks out of place but a casting of Christopher Lee (compulsory), Honor Blackman, Anthony Valentine, and the master character actor Denholm Elliott was always going to be appealing. The production values are Hammer.
Four Eyed Monsters (2008)
It does okay for the most part but doesn't really have enough material to see it through to the end.
Man Who Watched Trains Go By, The (1953)
The screenplay has a solid literary basis and the performances from Rains, in particular, are very good.
Cinderella Man (2005)
Although overlong the story is set in an interesting period & is well represented by the sets & wardrobe. Braddock was a working–class underdog & his story is therefore worthy of telling. Hopefully, this drama should tempt one to find out more about him.
Cottage, The (2008)
The first half, prior to the splatter, works best when the characters are the focus but importantly it is not too long and doesn't get sidetracked.
Hurricane Heist, The (2018)
It blows in and the blows out without leaving an everlasting impression.
Phantoms (1998)
An okay cast of McGowan, Schreiber and O'Toole, who pops up from time to time, helps keeps the interest up.
Manhunter (1986)
Not too bad – a shorter screenplay would have helped to sustain the suspense a bit better.
