The black and white photography is outstanding. The street scenes are the other strength – there is no attempt by the director to control space or people – Naturellement!
Although it does well to breathe a bit of life into this tired genre it is a shade too long and loses some of its effectiveness after a good beginning. The performances of Morgana O'Reilly and Rima Te Wiata are the highlight.
The opening scene photography is outstanding and is the highlight of the film. The screenplay is largely predictable and it plays like a play, unfortunately.
