K-20 - Legend Of The Mask (2008)
What it does is done okay but there is little freshness to what it does.
State of Things, The (1982)
Most of the screenplay is uninteresting and claustrophobic until the main protagonist visits LA where although there are some "on the road" segments it is only LA and not some interesting European city. The soundtrack is good.
King Of California (2007)
Douglas's character is a mix of being mildly amusing and annoying but at least the screenplay has a freshness to it.
Samurai Spy (1965)
The body count was 9,263 but all died entertainingly in dance mode. I gave up trying to work out the characters but rewarding was the camera work & the lighting of the night scenes when ninjas were scurrying down alleyways & over rooftops up to no good.
Grandma, A Thousand Times (Teta, Alf Marra) (2010)
Short and sweet and so is the film.
Mechanic, The (1972)
Keenan Wynn is good but doesn't last long, unfortunately ( a mistake considering what else is on show) in this serviceable thriller.
Lake Placid (1999)
Not too bad but the squabbling between Gleeson and Platt is more tiresome than amusing.
Mohawk (1956)
It is not too long.
Ocean's 8 (Ocean's Eight) (2018)
As a heist film, it was entertaining but it was yet another heist film. The makeup team had a field day but it didn't help the girls who had to carry around several unnecessary layers.
Black Panther (2018)
Some of the early scenes had special effects and set designs that were excellent and the body count was reasonable but 2 and a quarter hours is a long time to rein in an action film. Andy Serkis added life to the performances.
