300 (2006)
If you can stomach the slow–motion violence you can have a laugh at the male posturing and at the stirring final scene. What is worthy of attention however is the artwork.
Bad Company (2002)
Anthony Hopkins seems to be one of those performers who needs to be working all the time – no matter what is on offer.
Conversations with Other Women (2005)
Because nothing happened I spent the running time working out how Helena could give Eckhart the push so that we could all go home.
Pixote (1981)
Very believable (unfortunately).
Matilda (1997)
The first half is strong but the screenplay weakens a little once it gets into St. Trinians territory. Throughout the production values are excellent.
Girl Asleep (2015)
Not all of the ideas have translated well – e.g. the dream sequence is over–ambitious. However, when an idea does work it is excellent as is the choreography, artwork & set designs. Bethany Whitmore is the glue but the dick head dad is the scene–stealer.
Mule, The (2018)
Clint has been doing these for a few years now. The mule stays on the straight and narrow path. It is a no risker.
Game Night (2018)
I didn't realise this was a comedy but as a drama, it failed to hold the attention.
Last Mimzy, The (2007)
Yes, the special effects are used sensibly and don't dominate. It is good solid family storytelling.
Wasp Woman, The (1960)
Wasp Woman takes a little while to leave the nest but when she does she adds much–needed bite to the proceedings.
