What is different is that half the characters in this western are European nobles. However as the nobles have a servant played by the great comedic actor Eric Sykes, it is possible that Eric has manoeuvred them onto the wrong film set.
The formatting of the autobiography is a bit frustrating – some segments wet the appetite and you need to connect it with the end credits to see more – on the other hand, other segments are boring but may not be so if seen in the original documentary.
The human characters are overwhelmed and are being pushed aside by the Three Gorges Dam project. The location shots using the river as a backdrop are outstanding.
The special effects do not overwhelm but are used discerningly to support a screenplay, that although intelligent in its better segments, would have been improved if shorter and more focused.
