The material is light but you don't feel you've wasted your time as the story keeps moving along and the main character is kind of likeable. The icing on the cake is the easy on the eye soft colours of the photography.
It is deservedly well known for its special effects. The screenplay has elements that you can scoff at but it also has those that you can admire. It deserves to be seen and will outlast the lot of us.
I think what happened was that Billy Bob invited some actor friends around to his place and they were filmed chatting waiting until someone delivered the screenplay.
It is okay but the only time it lights up is when Stanley Tucci has the matches which is probably not a good metaphor with the state our climate is in these days.
