Stranger, The (1991)
The ending is unnecessarily delayed, so it is a bit overlong, but other than that the screenplay is worthwhile. The colour photography is gorgeous.
Johnny English Strikes Again (2018)
For a third strike, this is not too bad.
Journey's End (2017)
Paul Bettany heads some other fine performances. Although adult film audiences are probably (over)familiar with the working conditions of WWI trenches it does capture the claustrophobia very well.
King and Country (1964)
In my book, this is one of the great anti–war films. It is also an excellent example of two actors, Courtenay and Bogarde, whilst working off each other, giving each other the necessary space. Stagey yes, but one for the working class.
Adaptation (2002)
The screenplay is intelligent but it is a challenge to understand. However, even if you can't follow proceedings this is not something that will wreck the viewing experience as Chris Cooper & Meryl Streep are strong & Nicolas Cage is good in this one.
Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, The (2018)
I'm afraid my attention got left behind at the start.
Ice Age 4: Continental Drift (2012)
Although it feels like a repeat it is still well done and entertaining.
Poms (2019)
A good cast, and its entertaining, but the screenplay is just lazy with no fresh ideas. It has all been done before.
Under the Silver Lake (2018)
The best bits were where the director tried to copy David Lynch. He did achieve, with the aid of the score, some Lynch atmospherics. However, overall it was a film that was in love with itself and unable to bring itself to a conclusion.
Wind Chill (2007)
The bickering between the two students didn't create any sympathy for their well being and you were praying that whatever was going to chill them out would hurry up and do its thing.
