Cockleshell Heroes (1955): The first hour is pretty good light entertainment with Victor Maddern standing out – the wartime action makes up the last half hour and is competently made.
Critters (1986): A good mix of horror and comedy – as usual, Emmet Walsh is a plus.
I've Heard the Mermaids Singing (1987): Its likeability (especially the casting) far outweighs its faults.
Mary Queen of Scots (2018): Our two ladies are fine as is the wardrobe and makeup but this story has been thrashed to death.
End of the Affair, The (1954): Poor Deborah lumbered with another romantic role – she is better than that. She does well however and John Mills is good in a supporting role.
Awake (2007): Awake but not alert to making the most of a good plot idea.
Baby Driver (2017): The screenplay has been thrashed to death many times before but the film is helped by having a strong supporting cast in Spacey, Foxx and Hamm.
Bandidas (2006): It is a good concept for a story and it is entertaining throughout.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984): Used to be seen on a Saturday morning at the flicks with a whole bunch of other screaming popcorn stuffed kids rolling jaffas down the aisles.
Casino Royale (2006): By losing its panache & humour this instalment brings the franchise back to the field. After setting the standards for so long it is now indistinguishable from the wannabees in the genre although the stunt people can still hold their heads high.
