Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & ShawFast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (Hobbs and Shaw) (2019)
2 stars (Good Try) When it finally did finish I was trying to recollect if the screenplay had broken any new ground(?) I do remember Helen Mirren appearing– she might have been passing the film set at the time of shooting and popped in for a chat.
SleuthSleuth (1972)Aro Favourite
4 stars (Very Good) For a cast of two to hold one's attention for over two hours requires good writing and performances.
Le Feu FolletLe Feu Follet (The Fire Within) (1963)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) Ronet's character, considering what is at stake, keeps his emotions remarkably in check. The screenplay suggests what the conclusion is, but as he moves through the day, you are never really sure. An excellent portrayal, without melodrama, of alcoholism.

3 stars (Good Enough) The screenplay, the cast and the musical score all have freshness and energy.
BrigadoonBrigadoon (1954)
3 stars (Good Enough) More subdued than a number of other musicals but it has some memorable numbers and the feet of Gene Kelly.
Swiss Family RobinsonSwiss Family Robinson (1960)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) Very solid family entertainment which manages to fill in the rather long running time quite well. The animal action scenes are particularly well done.
Make It FunkyMake It Funky (2005)
3 stars (Good Enough) An eclectic range of performances interspersed with some very interesting interviews.
Bed Sitting Room, TheBed Sitting Room, The (1969)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) The Goon Show (1951/60) influenced British Comedy, including Monty Python, and this is adapted from a play written by two of its writers. The cast is a roll call of comedians & comedic actors. The sets are ultra–cheap.
Flashbacks Of A FoolFlashbacks Of A Fool (2008)
2 stars (Good Try) The ingredients are there but the screenplay doesn't really come together as well as it might have including perhaps climaxing too soon. It is worth watching though for some good location shooting & a cast that includes Olivia Williams & Helen McCrory.
Best of Enemies, TheBest of Enemies, The (2019)
3 stars (Good Enough) Whilst I believe Ann Atwater's story would have been best served by a documentary, rather than this (overlong) dramatisation, it is worth watching because of the performances. I intend to read the story of this courageous civil rights activist.
