Zoom (2015)
After a second viewing – I'm still unsure about its true merits but at least it doesn't follow formula and is innovative.
Viva Maria! (1965)
Pure enjoyable escapism.
Camille (2007)
On a first viewing the screenplay, even with such a talented casting in the lead and support, did not hold the attention.
Santa Fe Trail, The (1940)
It is well made but Raymond Massey's character is the only one of any interest and he makes the most of it.
Hair (1979)
The screenplay should have been cut leaving only the musical numbers.
October Man, The (1960)
Although it is a tad slow in its middle scenes it starts well, and except for the commercial finale, its closing scenes are also good. Its main attribute though is the performance of John Mills.
They Shall Not Grow Old (2018)
Easy on the eye, which considering the subject, is a contradiction in terms. I've found the horrors of the trenches – rats, gas, mud, best expressed in books & audio rather than archive film but this impressive doc should attract new interest in WWI.
Universal Horror (2000)
Well worth the time – the Studio made an inestimable contribution to the genre.
Mummy, The (1932)
Probably still a benchmark for make–up as is Karloff's characterisation here and in the earlier "Frankenstein".
Red Dust (2004)
It is a bit dry but not without interest. Two very good lead performances help.
