All the normal ingredients of a western are there but it does try a lighter than normal tone, including a boys will be boys fight in the saloon, which helps.
It is not clear whether it was the intention of the filmmaker to embarrass others or at least affect our memories of them – but you would think that this would have happened.
Although the female ensemble casting is good the performances are a touch over–exuberant with the exception of Maggie Smith in a wig. The males don't get much of a look in but Dan Hedaya comes closest to getting a word in.
David Caruso, Mike Starr, & Kathy Baker are in support which shows how strong the casting is. Uma's role was a bit demeaning unfortunately & that side of the screenplay received a bit too much attention & was a detraction from some good writing otherwise
