Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot (2018)
It happens to be a well written screenplay but when Joaquin Phoenix is on form it doesn't really matter how good or ordinary the material is.
A Few Best Men (2011)
At best it is silly but often it lacks taste.
Stonehearst Asylum (Eliza Graves) (2014)
It looks the part, it has an excellent cast, a good plot idea, and a good finish but overall it doesn't work. David Thewlis's performance however does stand out and is some compensation.
Angels' Share, The (2012)
The screenplay is less structured during its second half & although it does not have the strength of the early scenes the effect overall is still of hard punching Glasgow realism coupled with delightful working class wit.
Beautiful Boy (2018)
It has an anti–drug taking theme which is good but the screenplay and its melodramatics have all been done before.
High-Rise (High Rise) (2015)
Always original and wonderfully satirical but the screenplay runs amok in its second half when a bit of restraint would have been the wiser option.
Stephen King's Doctor Sleep (2019)
It has an overcomplicated way of telling its story and it relies heavily on noisy sound effects to create excitement.
St. Ives (1976)
A well produced routine screenplay with a pretty good supporting cast in Houseman, Schell and Guardino.
Caramel (Sukkar banat) (2007)
Although romantically themed it avoids most of the soppiness these kinds of screenplays often attract. The mainly female cast are excellent and they are at their best when bonding together.
Twelve Angry Men (12 Angry Men) (1957)
Stagey & melodramatic but a lesson against all–male juries. It got the sweat, the smoking, & the sticking windows right. Some excellent up–close camera work & performances except Fonda as a producer shouldn't have been in the hero role & in a white suit.
