Ghosts of the Civil Dead (1988)
Other than the fact that the prisoners didn't seem to have much of an ethnic mix the screenplay seemed to be authentic enough and it stands up well in comparison with other prison movies.
Son's Room, The (La Stanza del Figlio) (2001)
It is a melodrama concerning a photogenic family with the level of soppiness gathering pace in the second half and it gets close to embarrassing.
Benji (1974)
It is cute but only when the dog has something in its mouth to stop it from barking.
Invention of Lying, The (2009)
The plot idea was fine but it lost steam and appeal after a while.
Legend of Baron To'a, The (2020)
Some will find it funny some will find it silly.
Man Who Fell to Earth, The (1976)
Its main attraction is that it is highly original but it loses some of its impact by spending too much time on the love interest – quite a bit of which had nothing to do with science fiction.
Mr. Brooks (2007)
Unusually Demi struggles a bit in this. Having the Costner and Hurt "characters" on screen together is a bit clumsy at times but I suppose it is better than having two Costners.
Queen of Sheba's Pearls, The (2004)
It has some delightful touches of offbeat humour sprinkled here and there in an interesting screenplay. It is performed by an interesting mix of a cast which includes the great character actor Peter Vaughan.
Adventures in Babysitting (1987)
It may not have worked but for the casting of the appealing Elisabeth Shue but there are some great Chicago street locations.
Centre Stage (2000)
Just watch the dancing bits.
