Good work by the special effects and in particular the makeup departments but what makes this more watchable than a lot of comic adaptations is Ron Perlman's attitude to his character.
They've dug up yet another fashion worker to document. This precious one describes his life's work as self–sacrifice for which I guess we should be grateful.
Musically not every segment works and it close to being described as a one tuner. However, the set design and wardrobe people do a great job and help to soothe the passage of the lengthy running time.
It is not an easy watch because understandably the characters get emotional. The screenplay tackles an important issue and everyone involved should be commended.
The first half is pretty good but then the screenplay changes tack when the love interest appears and the comedy suffers. Eileen Brennan is a real plus throughout.
