Cake (2014)
After some early promise in the scenes involving Jennifer and Adriana, the screenplay doesn't deliver – in fact, it is not clear what it is meant to deliver. Although Jennifer's performance is fine the male characters, in particular, are weak.
Envy (2004)
It doesn't matter what kind of film this is meant to be, Stiller, who is unfortunately in every scene, is miscast.
Marley and Me (2008)
Although you need to look at Wilson for two hours there is some relief provided by Jennifer and the dog.rn
White Mischief (1987)
It is a reasonable story, an excellent cast and production values but the problem was always going to be making the characters, who don't do anything useful in life, interesting.
Live From Baghdad (2002)
There have been quite a few of these "reporters on the front line" dramas and this one rates well against the rest. Having talent like Keaton, Carter and Suchet helps.
Manchurian Candidate, The (1962)
The plot idea is very good even if the screenplay is a bit clunky at times. I've never rated Harvey as an actor but Angela Lansbury is superb and too strong for the rest of them.- DVD
$24.95 $18.70
Herbs - Songs of Freedom (2019)
It didn't always switch smoothly between the music, archival film, and interviews but not a bad watch.
Bait (2019)
The camera work is centre with close–ups of bits of rope & the like & creating the right feel for a drama located in a small fishing community. The drab colours help & tension is enhanced with the expectation that the projector might break down.
Julieta (2016)
It looks good but it doesn't achieve much more than that.
Iron Jawed Angels (2004)
A terrific female ensemble sees this dramatisation through despite some melodramatic segments. A snappy soundtrack helps as does the excellent work by the wardrobe department.
