Made in U.S.A (1966): The director chooses a complicated way to tell the story.
Big Trouble in Little China (1986): It is hard to dislike, silly but it does have energy and to give it its due it doesn't take itself seriously.
Seraphim Falls (2006): It is fine for its type and with the exception of Angelica Huston popping up we are on familiar territory.
Neruda (2016): The attraction to this film was the title character but unfortunately, quite a bit of the screentime was devoted to his purser in whom I had no interest at all. An appetiser only for those interested in Neruda.
Night in Casablanca, A (1946): There is wit as well as the usual enjoyable terrible jokes plus segments of excellent choreographed visual humour. The talented musical segments are the icing on the cake.
Yuli (2018): The general screenplay is no more than adequate but the dancing segments make it worthwhile.; DVD $29.95
Varsity Blues (1999): Typical of other American Football dramas.
Telling Lies in America (1998): It is an example of a screenplay being dominated by its soundtrack but I'm not complaining.
Class (1983): The comedy is never strong but weakens further when the romance kicks in.
Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, The (1974): I know the main character was over 100 but the screenplay goes on too long. The photography was great however and could be appreciated as most of the scenes were shot outdoors. There was also a good country blues soundtrack.
