Elitists hunting humans for the sport has been done so many times that no matter how many variants are used in the screenplay, at the end of the day, it is just lazy filmmaking.
Rewatching 30 years on & the film has not weathered well. The time & place is well done & the in your face erudite language hasn't aged but the rest of the screenplay just comes across as a series of violent acts.
There are things to like – especially the period's wardrobe and the use of shadow by the cinematographer – but it is hard to empathise with its main character – a car maker.
